red architecture + planning is a full service architectural and mep engineering design firm. Since conception in 2006, red has continued to evolve to include a broad understanding of all aspects of architecture and engineering, as well as how to incorporate those principles within a project in a holistic manner. This ability is maintained by assembling a team of design professionals who share red’s desire to learn and improve upon each design, while maintaining one’s divergent perspective to better evaluate moves made throughout a project’s maturation.

It is our attention to detail and the quality of our field surveys and contract documents have been used to set the standards to which other firms must match. We measure our success not in the number of projects we have completed but in the number of years we have provided our services to repeat clients. red architecture + planning was originally founded by Rick Lantz, Ed Wilson, and David Efaw in 2006. Over the years the firm has grown to add Mark Headlee and Kyle Artar to the partnership in order to help expand and diversify the firms experience.
David’s versatility in architecture, engineering and construction has pioneered red architecture + planning’s work flow from start to finish. He became a registered architect in 1989, and has worked on many project types, including: high-rise residential, religious, commercial, office, hospitality, and industrial. David is NCARB certified and has also worked with the State of Ohio to rewrite sections of the building code, removing contradictions that impeded construction and economic development.
An adept manager with nearly twenty years of commercial, restaurant and retail design experience all over the country, Ed’s broad exposure through his relations with national clients has provided him with an invaluable wealth of knowledge and understanding. His attention to detail has been a critical component to the red team.
Mark has been a registered architect since 1993 and has over thirty years of architectural practice and related construction experience. His knowledge encompasses all phases of service; from marketing and initial conceptual design through construction administration and project turnover. Mark’s exposure to diverse project types has allowed red to gain considerable amounts of experience and understanding to design just about any project imaginable.
Kyle has been a registered architect since 2013 and has over ten years of architectural practice. His position is a reflection of the work ethic he has exhibited as a designer, land planner, project architect and studio manager. Kyle has embodied red’s ideals for high quality work and continues to raise the bar in how we see ourselves. He has experience leading a variety of builds, including; retail, mixed-use, office, restaurant, and tenant infill projects.
